The high rates of coexisting anxiety disorders and depression, presents considerable clinical challenge in treating it. The 2 main categories of medication used in the treatment of anxiety disorders are benzodiazepines and Selective serotonin reuptake inhibitors (SSRIs).SSRIs are considered first-line therapy in managing depression.The primary limitations of SSRIs involve , delay in onset of effect (Few weeks) & the risk of agitation and anxiety at the initiation of treatment .These factors contribute to reduced adherence to treatment and poorer outcomes.Increased anxiety associated with the initiation of antidepressant therapy, increases patients' distress, which may lead to thoughts of suicide. Concomitant use of benzodiazepines like clonazepam is useful in reducing agitation and anxiety & also it has got rapid onset of action.

Depressive disorders overlapped with those of the anxiety disorders like :
– Panic Agoraphobia syndrome
– Sever phobias
– Generalized anxiety disorder
– Social anxiety disorder
– Post traumatic stress disorder
– Obsessive compulsive disorder

Escitalopram should not be used in combination with a MAOI or within 14 days of discontinuing treatment with a MAOI &Hypersensitivity to Escitalopram/clonazepam

May occasionally show dizziness, drowsiness, fatigue, nausea, sweating
