Description
Functional GI disorders are defined as Chronic abdominal symptoms without any structural abnormality. Common functional GI disorders are Functional Dyspepsia (FD), Irritable Bowel Syndrome (IBS), and Gastro-Oesophageal Reflux Disease (GERD). Irritable bowel syndrome (IBS) is one of the most common functional gastrointestinal disorders. Irritable bowel syndrome (IBS), affecting approximately 10%-15% of the population based on Rome criteria as "abdominal pain or discomfort associated with altered bowel habits and disordered defecation". Gastroesophageal reflux disease (GERD) is characterized by the symptoms of heart burn and regurgitation caused by reflux of stomach content.
