Ostium K2 kit provides both bone resorption inhibitors as ibandronate and bone formation stimulators as vitamin K2, and calcium-calcitriol combination for the effective management of osteoporosis. As in osteoporosis there is increased concentration of osteoclast a bone deforming cell and decreased concentration of osteoblast a bone forming cell. Ibandronate have strong anti-resorptive action by inhibiting osteoclast activity. Supplementation of minerals like calcium, zinc, and magnesium stimulates the osteoblastic cell activity as well as increase the bone mass and thus, strengthening the bone.

Prevention and management of postmenopausal osteoporosis

Currently available calcium and vitamin D3 combination basically helps only in increasing the calcium absorption. But proper utilization of calcium is not ensured. Ostium K2 works at cellular level, carboxylates Osteocalcin and thus ensures proper mineralization. Combination of Vitamin K27 with Calcitriol has been found to be superior to Vitamin K27 & Calcitriol supplementation alone, in terms of improving the bone mineral density and reducing the risk of fractures. Thus, Ostium K2 not only ensures absorption of calcium but also ensures proper utilization and thus improves the bone mineral density and reduces the incidences of fracture.
