Description
Oset contains Ondansetron which is an antiemetic agent.
It is a potent, highly selective 5HT3 receptor antagonist which is effective in management of nausea and vomiting induced by cytotoxic chemotherapy and radiotherapy or following post operative period due to antagonism of 5HT3 receptors on neurons located both in the peripheral and central nervous system.
Indications
Ondansetron has a wide range of indications in clinical practice
- Post operative Nausea and vomiting
- Reflux esophagitis
- Co-prescription with antiulcerants
- As an anti-emetic in patients receiving cancer chemotherapy and radiation therapy
- Nausea and vomiting of varied etiology
Composition
Each film coated tablet contains:
Ondansetron Hydrochloride Equivalent to Ondansetron: 4 mg
Dosage
Adult
One tablet twice daily
Pediatric use (age 2 years and above): one teaspoonful (5ml) twice daily.
Adverse effects
Ondansetron is well tolerated. The side effects may be dry mouth, itching, headache, thirst and diarrhea, but are rare.

Oset is available as a strip of 10 tablets.
Oset syrup is available in a bottle of 30 ml.
